Increasingly and encouragingly technology is playing a vital role in all our daily lives. Specifically, education has been made more lucid using various digital content now available on our tabs. Technology has also played a vital role in providing other forms of digital entertainment content.

Nischint will assist all of us to make our iPads more focused towards education during school hours and also enable proactive protection towards objectionable content available on web and apps. In addition, it allows parental management after school hours, holidays and vacations. We encourage proactive management of content to keep our kids safe at school, home or anywhere else.

 1. What is Nischint for Education and how does it work?
The Nischint for Education is a Mobile Device Management solution, provided by Nischint Technologies for use in the Education Sector. It securely catalyses the use of mobile devices in school, ensuring only education related content during class hours. After class hours the mobile device can be used like any other device. The Nischint for Education app is available to download from Google Playstore and Apple App store for free.

 2. How will Nischint install software application on the iPads?
Installation of Nischint software is done in 3 steps.
a. Back up all data of individual iPads – This is expected to be done at home using any of the iCloud features. Please note we do not recommend backing up of device using a standard laptop as this may disrupt other student applications. To see all modes of how you can back up your device please click here
b. Downloading Nischint for Education application
c. Activating as per student grade and section.

 3. Do I have to back up my iPad and take any other steps??
Yes, please do the following
a. Switch off find my ipad feature – This can be done by going to Settings>>General>>iCloud>>switching off find my iPad (this will require your iTunes ID and password)
b. Back up all your data – We recommend using one of the methods listed here

 4. What am I expected to bring on the day of installation?
Once your iPad is backed up please bring along your charging cable.

 5. Are all students expected to install Nischint?
Yes, all students using iPads in school are expected to have Nischint Installed.

 6. What exactly is controlled by the school ?
The schools can do the following
a. Set up time policies for students as per grade and section – This will ensure that student devices have only education related content during school hours. After school hours all content and apps are restored
b. Remotely install applications and files – IT administrators and school authorities can remotely install apps and also send files.

 7. Can schools set up specific time for usage?
Yes, schools will be permitted to set up school times to allow education related application and files to work

 8. Will my child’s device be on school mode on vacations/weekends/holidays?
No. The school will set up school hours and vacations proactively.

 9. Can the school / IT administrator/ Nischint see my device personal data like images, videos etc?
A: No. The school authorities don’t have access to any personal data on the child device.

 10. Will the apps get scrambled when my child uses the app?
No. The applications are not scrambled once the device is in use beyond school hours, at home or ducting holidays

 11. Can I control each app individually
Yes. As a parent you can manage every application individually. Schedule usage hours after school and during holidays.

 12. Can the school remotely install apps and files? How?
Yes. Nischint helps the school to connect to the student device remotely and install apps and send files as per year length/ grade and section.

13. Is this a cloud based service? Is it secure?
Yes, Nischint services are cloud based and its completely secure. We use Advanced Encryption Systems to ensure all customer data are secure at all times.

14. How do install Nischint on student device and link to the system?
Installing on student device can be done the following ways
Parent self-service mode – Asking students/parents to install Nischint for education application at home.
IT mode – installing the application on every student device in school
For the Parent self-service mode, please follow the below steps
a. Mail merge all the licenses provided and send to all the parents. Please send a PDF instruction booklet. If you need assistance with the same please contact your Nischint representative or write to info@nischint.co
b. Download and install ‘Nischint for Education’ app for free from Google Playstore.
c. Open the Nischint for Education app in the student device.
d. Click on Student Device Activation.
e. Enter the License code from your set of Licenses in order to assign it to a particular device.
f. Enter the Student Registration Number And other student details such as Name, Grade Section.
g. Select the Device type Personal Device/School Device. In case of personal device, parent credentials of email ID and mobile number will be required. In case of school device, no further credentials are required.
h. The Device is now conImaged with Nischint for Education and linked to the IT web portal.
For the IT mode, please follow the above steps by replacing the parent part with the IT Staff.

 

15. When there is an update for Nischint for Education app, does the data get lost? 

The entire system of Nischint For Education including the IT admin web portal and end user student device management is cloud based, hence no data is lost, and can be accessed even after updating the Nischint for Education app.

16. Does Nischint for Education app work even if I don’t update to the latest version?
The Nischint For Education app works with complete functionality of its features available in the current version installed on the device. However, the user may not be able to use any new features that are released with the latest version of the Nischint For Education app.

17. What are the extra features that are available on the IT Admin side of control?
The IT Admin may choose the following additional optional features for devices owned by students.
a. Parent access to child device : To allow the parents to access and manage their child devices during non-school hours, you can toggle this On/Off switch button . It will allow the parents to block apps on child devices, set website rules and many other helpful security features.
b. Geo Safe feature to Parent: You can use this feature to allow the parent to access the real time location information of their child. This feature can be enabled/disabled using the On/Off Switch button.
c. Shout Out feature to Parent : In case of emergencies the child can raise a “”Shout Out”” using the Nischint For Education app on their devices. This feature can be enabled/disabled using the On/Off Switch button.

18. How to unlock a student device during school hours if required?
In order to unlock the student device during school hours, the IT admin/Parent can do so just by entering their Parent passcode into the settings tab of the Nischint for Education app on the device. This gets the device unlocked.

19.  How does the application work if the student is out of premises during school hours?
Outside school premises the device is managed by parents. Policies enforced by parents are thereby applicable. If no policies are put in place the device would work as a normal device.

20.If a student is absent from school, can the device be used as a home device i.e. by not enforcing school timings and policies
Nischint for Education is equipped with the ‘Parent Override Absent Feature’ wherein the parent can enter their parent passcode in the settings of the Nischint for Education App, and the device gets unlocked to be used freely. Please note that in such a scenario a notification is sent to the IT administrator informing of the parent override.

 21. What is the purpose of the Notification Centre?
a. The notification Centre is a medium provided by Nischint For Education that allows the IT Admin to send notification/alerts/acknowledgements etc any type of message, that needs to be received by the student. In addition, as an extra feature, the Notification Centre allows these notifications to be sent to the parents as well, in case required.
b. The Notification history sub tab keeps a log of all the notification details sent by the IT admin, including a RESEND button to resend the notifications to the students who haven’t read them yet.

22. Why is there a delay in updating the Notification History sub tab?
c. Please try to refresh the page or press Ctrl + F5.
d. Allow a maximum of 10 minutes to update information under extreme circumstances. You might be facing this issue due to poor connectivity.

23. How do I get my login details?
There is a secure passcode generated automatically once your child device is registered with Nischint for Education Application. Please ensure you enter/provide your most used and active email address

24. I have 2 kids studying in different grades in the same school subscribing to Nischint can I view their details on the same email ID ?
Yes, you can monitor 2 or more devices through the same Parent portal account.

25.Will the Nischint for Education app notify/alert me my child’s activity even during school hours?
There is a secure passcode generated automatically once your child device is registered with Nischint for Education Application. Please ensure you enter/provide your most used and active email address

26.Can I change school hours?
No. These are set by the School Management.

27. My child couldn’t attend school today will school policies be applicable at home as well?
As a parent you have the authority to override school policy by putting your secure passcode. Please note every time a school passcode is over written. Its highly advisable to never share your secure passcode with your child.

28. What is a Geo Safe Zone? How can I set them?
A Geo Safe zone is a geographical perimeter set to notify your on entry and exit. Hence, you may set a safe zone for your child at home, school or anywhere else and get notified whenever they enter /exit. Maximum three Geo Safe Zones can be created per child device.

29. Does the Nischint for Education app notify me about my child’s activity or alert reports in real time even if my child is not at all connected to the internet or GPS?
No, The Nischint For Education App requires WIFI/data in order to notify the parent of their child’s activity or alert reports.

30. How to set up intervals or schedules for the usage of a particular app?
i. Go to App Management tab on your Parent Portal account.
ii. Move the bar to highlight Block corresponding to the app you want to set a schedule for.
iii. Click on the clock sign to set a schedule
iv. Give the schedule name (e.g. Homework time/ play time).
v. Set the start and end time (please allow maximum 10 minutes for the schedule to be implemented).
vi. Select the days of the week when the schedule will be repeated. (be default all days are selected).
vii. Click Done.
Note: if you do not set a time schedule the application is permanently blocked until allowed from the parent application.

31. What is a Geo Safe Zone? How can I set them?

32. Why can’t I select any location for the Geo Safe Zone Feature?
Please ensure that your child device is connected to the internet and the GPS is switched on. The Geo Safe zone feature will not function with internet and GPS. It is recommended to keep your Nischint for Education app updated at all times.

33. How to uninstall the Nischint for Education app from child device?
i. On the student device, go to settings and enter your Parent passcode to unlock the settings.
ii. Go to ‘Security’ >> Device Administrators.
iii. Untick the button corresponding to the Nischint for Education App. (this will allow the initial uninstallation process)
iv. Open the Nischint for Education app on the current student device
v. Go to Settings >> Enter your Parent Passcode
vi. Click on ‘Uninstall Nischint’ option on the following screen >> Click OK.

34. How to change my PIN/Passcode?
i. Log onto you Parent web portal account through your current login credentials.
ii. Go to ‘Settings’ tab.
iii. Click on ‘Change PIN’ .
iv. In the following dialog box, enter your current PIN >> Enter your New PIN >> Confirm it by Re-entering it again.
v. Click ‘SAVE’ button.

35.Why doesn’t the Geo Safe Zone Feature notify me when my child is out of safe zones?
Please ensure the child device has an active internet connection or its GPS on. The Nischint for Education app requires data from either of these sources in order to notify/alert the parent.

36. Why doesn’t the dashboard show any data?
i. Your child device has active internet connection. Nischint services can work only with an active WiFI or Cellular data network connection
ii. Your child device is compatible. We support Android V3 and above and iOS version 7.1 and above
iii. Your child is using the same device in which Nischint is installed.If you still continue to face an issue. Please write to us info@nischint.co.

37. What does the Device Management feature do?
The Device Management feature allows the parent to block complete usage the app. A schedule/interval can also be set up in order to block a particular application for a time period. To enable this feature. Go to Device Management Tab on the Parent portal account and turn the button to display ‘Block’. This will block the entire tablet from usage, and can be unlocked only by entering the parent Passcode.

38. How does the Nischint for Education app notify/alert the parent?
i. Dashboard feature on parent portal,
ii. Notifications tab on parent portal.
iii. Email notifications to the registered parent email address.
iv. Notification Centre on IT Admin portal.

39. Why doesn’t the ‘Reports’ tab show any data of the child activity? (Similar answer to q no. 64 Parent faq)
i. Your child device has active internet connection. Nischint services can work only with an active WiFI or Cellular data network connection.
ii. Your child device is compatible. We support Android V3 and above and iOS version 7.1 and above.
iii. Your child is using the same device in which Nischint is installed.

40. How to allow the child device to be accessed freely in case required?
Go to ‘Settings’ tab in the Nischint for Education app on your child device. Enter your Parent Passcode, as a result the device will become unlocked and free to use.
